Canvas Style Trendsetter

Meet Our September Trendsetter

Each month, we're spotlighting one of our CANVAS Style friends to let you meet & learn a bit more about some of the faces that pop up on our Instagram. They're answering our go-to ice-breaker questions and sharing some of their favorite CANVAS Style pieces.

This month, we talked game day must-haves with Cheri Leavy of @cherileavy. As one of the Co-Founders of The Southern Coterie, we've loved getting to know Cheri through attending The Southern C Summit over the years.

Get to Know Cheri

Cheri Leavy is a connector, cheerleader and marketing consultant for fellow entrepreneurs. Her super power is her ability to build rapport and strengthen a sense of community:
• A community of female entrepreneurs through the The Southern Coterie and The Southern C Summit
• The faces and places of Athens that make the city so vibrant through guide2athens
• A community of devoted football fans and UGA Alumni through Bulldawg Illustrated
• The characters and culture in the Golden Isles of Georgia through Coastal Illustrated

1. Who are you cheering for come Saturdays in the South?
University of Georgia Bulldogs!

2. What is one tip for dressing for game day?
It’s all about the accessories for me! I love to keep it simple and wear black but add fun pops of red with my jewelry and shoes. I love a good arm stack of bracelets or a neck mess of necklaces.

3. What tips do you have for entertaining or tailgating on game day?
Hair of the Dawg is must after Friday night in a college town so kick off your day with a Bellini or Bloody Mary with all the fixings like celery, pickled okra, olives, Red Clay Hot Sauce and Red Clay Spicy Bloody Mary Salt on the rim. You need a drink ice cooler and another one for beer at your tailgate.

4. What is your go-to game day recipe?
Every tailgate needs pimento cheese. I also love to serve Janet Brown’s Collard Green Dip.
Collard Green Dip
Ingredients:
•2 large cans of Glory Greens (drained)
•1 cup chopped onion
•2 Tbs. butter
•2-8 oz packages of cream cheese
•1 1/2 tsp salt
•2 tsp hot sauce
•Grated parmesan

Preparation:
Saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in all other ingredients (except collards) cook over medium heat until thoroughly heated. Add collards and cook until heated. Place dip in pan and add parmesan cheese on top. Bake uncovered 350F for 20 minutes. Serve with crackers or scoops.

5. What are your favorite Canvas Style game day pieces?
I LOVE to stack the enamel hinge bangles!

6. Are there any other brands you’d like to shout out for game day to pair with Canvas Style?
There are so many brands in The Southern C that have great game day collections this year and pair well with Canvas! Emily McCarthy has a great gameday 2023 collection and Wells McConnell of Swells red and black game day scarf. Leigh Ann Barnes game changer bags are unrivaled in the stadium approved clear handbags category.
